Good afternoon families,
Today we began our day with two rounds of daily 5. Ask me what centers I was at today.
Then Mrs. Schuman came to read us a story while we ate our snacks. Ask me what this story was about.
Next we researched some more information about bees and learned about their life cycles. Ask me what 4 stages of development a bee goes through to become an adult, what happens during these stages and how many days these stages last for. (hint egg - 3 days, larva - 6 days, pupa 7 -14 days, bee). Ask me what three types of bees there are in a colony (hint worker, drone, queen). Ask me which bees do the most work and if they are male or female.
After recess we had gym outside (before it was too hot!).
Then we had music. Ask me who we had music with today and what we did.
Next we had math with Mrs. Roworth. We learned about the actual sizes of bees and then had to transfer a sketch we did of an actual sized bee onto a bigger square paper. Ask me how many centimeters long my actual bee was and how long my bee was after I transferred it to "scale".
After lunch we listened to Miss Tennis read the Land of Stories. Ask me what is happening in the story right now.
Then we had social studies with Mrs. Leonard. Ask me what we worked on today.
We ended the day finishing up our chosen insect sketches and then started to build our insect using several materials such as newspaper, tin foil, straws and pipe cleaners. Ask me what my insect is and what I used to build it. Did I finish it today? We are going to paper mach and paint these wonderful creatures! We are excited for you to see the finished product.
Have an amazing evening everyone.
Love,
The grade 2s
