Evergreen for ALS
Our school is participating in a community walk to support the ALS Society of Alberta on Thursday, June 1, 2017. This is a cause that has directly impacted our school this year. Approximately 3 000 Canadians live with ALS. There is no known cause or cure for this devastating disease - yet.
All proceeds from our walk will stay in Alberta to make each day the best possible day for people living with and affected by ALS. Please use the link below if you would like to make an online donation. Our School ALS Donation Page with the ALS Society of Alberta: EVERGREEN FOR ALS . We thank you for your support!
Parents and community members are invited to join us at Evergreen School on Thursday June 1st from 6:00pm to 7:00pm for an informative session with Dr. Lawrence Korngut. Dr. Korngut will be sharing information about ALS and current promising research. Dr. Korngut is a neurologist at the Calgary Neuromuscular Clinic and is the Director of the Calgary ALS and Motor Neuron Disease Clinic. His research includes clinical trials of new therapies for neuromuscular conditions. Please RSVP to this event before May 25th at [email protected]
Dear Families
Today we continued to work with our Fairy Tale story maps. Some of the students were adding some detail to their plans. Some students were able to finish their story maps share their maps with a teacher or a peer. When the students are ready they meet with a teacher to have a generating idea conference. At this time they share their story maps and are given feedback about their plans. Sometimes they need to and add details, or clarify their maps with a teacher. The feedback they are given strengthens their ideas and makes their plans stronger. The more they talk about their stories the easier it will be for them to write their stories. Ask me what my story is about.
We had some time to learn a bit about some of the great places to visit in Alberta. Ask me what my favourite attraction in Calgary is.
We had some time to organize our desks and exchange our books at the end of the day today.
Have a wonderful weekend!
