Spring break starts on Friday!
Today:
-we made number lines to find the difference between 2 numbers.
-we had a whole bunch of Social Studies. Ms. Keir's group finished their pointillism paintings of a parka. They read a story about polar bears called the Polar Bear's Gift. They looked at their KWL charts and wrote a journal page about what they had learned. Mrs. Byciuk's class sketched pioneer artifacts like Da Vinchi and added labels, wonders and things they knew. They learned about the building of the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Did you know that Chinese men were brought over from China to build the railroad? They were treated very badly and many of them died while the railroad was being built. Mrs. Byciuk's class also looked at some "school books". The grade 2 section was only 22 pages long. They tried one of the games in the book and a couple of the lessons. They thought that school must have been very boring back then. Mrs. Byciuk's class also looked at a Pioneer book that had Miss Tennis' grandma in it and the story of her immigration to Canada.
-we silent read.
-we had music and gym.
-we saw a puppet show that the grade 4's put on for us.
