Mrs. Byciuk's students have inline tomorrow afternoon. Students will be bringing home their objects for art today. We have decided not to do the art project. Some students and parents were confused about the items that needed to be collected and this was causing some children to be upset. This was not our intention, Please understand the importance of reading the blog daily. We understand that everyone has busy lives and very little extra time. However, all of the reminders, information that parents need and what we are doing in class are all posted on the blog. Scholastic book orders due on Monday.
Today:
-we started a new science experiment. We used 2 jars and put red food coloring in one and blue food coloring in the other. We put a carnation in each jar. We drew a picture of what they looked like this morning and made a prediction about what we thought would happen.
-Mrs. Byciuk introduced us to the "brain pocket". It will help us with our writing. There are 3 parts of our brain pocket:
Memory pocket: people, places, events and pets
Fact pocket: Things I know a lot about
Imagination pocket: Things I imagine
We talked about what could be in my fact pocket. Each of us had to come up with at least 5 things to go in our fact pocket. I can write about these things because I know a lot about them. Ask me what I put in my fact pocket.
-in math, we worked on a matching activity for our creative journals. We matched a number to a picture of base 10 blocks.
-we silent read.
-we started our flexible spelling groups. Ask me what group I'm in and what I did today.
-we had music.
