Hi families! We began our day by reading The Land of Stories. What happened in our novel today? Then we had literacy centres. What centres did you go to today? What do you do at those centres? After recess and snack we had math and worked on solving the following math problem: Jerry has 2 ducks named Darth Vader and Luke. Darth Vader lays 5 eggs a week, and Luke lays 4 eggs a week. How many eggs in all do both ducks lay in 2 weeks? Challenge: How many eggs would both ducks lay in 3 weeks? Could you show your family how you solved this problem? We also had music this morning! What did we do in music today?
This afternoon we had art and continued to explore animals. We each chose an animal that we want to research about, so today we sketched our animal and labeled all of the different parts. What animal did you choose to find more information about? Ask me all about my animal sketch! At the end of the day we had science and worked on drawing a picture of different animals and writing facts that we already know about them. What animals did you choose? What facts did you record about them? It was a great day, we will see you tomorrow!

EVERGREEN FOR ALS
Our school is participating in a community walk to support the ALS Society of Alberta on Thursday, June 1, 2017. This is a cause that has directly impacted our school this year. Approximately 3 000 Canadians live with ALS. There is no known cause or cure for this devastating disease - yet.
All proceeds from our walk will stay in Alberta to make each day the best possible day for people living with and affected by ALS. Please use the link below if you would like to make an online donation. Our School ALS Donation Page with the ALS Society of Alberta: EVERGREEN FOR ALS. We thank you for your support!
Parents and community members are invited to join us at Evergreen School on Thursday June 1st from 6:00pm to 7:00pm for an informative session with Dr. Lawrence Korngut. Dr. Korngut is a neurologist at the Calgary Neuromuscular Clinic and is the Director of the Calgary ALS and Motor Neuron Disease Clinic. His research includes clinical trials of new therapies for neuromuscular conditions. Please RSVP to this event before May 25th at [email protected]
