Hello everyone, and welcome back from the long weekend! We began our Tuesday morning by reading The Land of Stories. What happened in our story today? Then we had literacy centres. Our popcorn words for this week are: ask, because, could, now, question, four, five, eight, nine, very. Could you write these words in sentences? What centres did you go to today? After recess and snack we had music, gym, and math. What did we do in music and gym? During math, we continued to work on our addition and subtraction "Show What you Know" sheets, before playing math games. Ask me all about math today!
This afternoon we had weekend writing, and used the writing continuum to help us make writing goals for ourselves! What did you write about? Where are you on the writing continuum? How might you get to the next level? At the end of the day we had science and explored animals as part of our Needs of Plants and Animals unit! What do you already know about animals? What questions do you have about animals? Here is a link of a game that I can play that helps me look at the ways that animals are similar and different.

EVERGREEN FOR ALS
Our school is participating in a community walk to support the ALS Society of Alberta on Thursday, June 1, 2017. This is a cause that has directly impacted our school this year. Approximately 3 000 Canadians live with ALS. There is no known cause or cure for this devastating disease - yet.
All proceeds from our walk will stay in Alberta to make each day the best possible day for people living with and affected by ALS. Please use the link below if you would like to make an online donation. Our School ALS Donation Page with the ALS Society of Alberta: EVERGREEN FOR ALS. We thank you for your support!
Parents and community members are invited to join us at Evergreen School on Thursday June 1st from 6:00pm to 7:00pm for an informative session with Dr. Lawrence Korngut. Dr. Korngut will be sharing information about ALS and current promising research. Dr. Korngut is a neurologist at the Calgary Neuromuscular Clinic and is the Director of the Calgary ALS and Motor Neuron Disease Clinic. His research includes clinical trials of new therapies for neuromuscular conditions. Please RSVP to this event before May 25th at [email protected]
